Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Dry needling or IMS is a form of alternative therapy that involves a very thin needle which is inserted into the knots or tight band in the muscles to relax the muscles. People who are involved with repetitive movements at work or in everyday life are very susceptible to developing tight knots in muscles. Tight nodules in the muscles usually cause severe pain, reduced range of motion, and impairment of blood flow.

Dry needling is different from Acupuncture.

Dry needling will produce a local twitch response when the needle is inserted into the tight band, thus causing immediate muscle relaxation and relief of pain.

Our physiotherapists are trained and certified by Acupuncture Canada. Our PTs are authorized by the Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association to use needles in physiotherapy practice.

WHO (World Health Organization) recognizes Acupuncture as a treatment modality.

There is abundant research supporting acupuncture as an alternate treatment method for various conditions.

Acupuncture treatment is also effective in regulating your bodily energy channels (Meridians) to improve your internal organ functions and reduce pain, spasm, stiffness, anxiety, depression and tinnitus

This treatment may produce changes in nerves, muscles, connective tissue, hormones, and circulation in the body. Acupuncture helps the body to secrete natural pain-relieving substances such as endorphin and serotonin.
