Women’s (Pelvic) health

Do you have pain in the pelvic, groin, back area? Do you have concerns holding urine? You might need consultation with our Pelvic Physiotherapist (Female).

Pelvic Physiotherapy is a specialized therapeutic treatment approach that is needed for patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapses, urinary and bowel incontinence, and musculoskeletal concerns before and after delivery.

Recommendations of The Canadian Physiotherapy association and society of obstetricians and gynaecologists of Canada:

  1. Pelvic floor muscle training with a Physiotherapist is recommended to prevent urinary incontinence during pregnancy and after delivery
  2. Pelvic floor muscle training with a Physiotherapist is recommended for women with stress urinary incontinence
  3. Core stability training with a Physiotherapist is recommended to prevent and treat back and pelvic pain during and following pregnancy
  4. Physiotherapist prescribed exercises are recommended for women to elicit positive changes in bone mass and to reduce fall and fracture risk
